Gentle Somatic Yoga was synthesized by James incorporating traditional yoga postures, Hanna Somatic Education, breathing techniques, and healing visualizations. This progressive method has been inspired by the work of somatic movement pioneers Eleanor Criswell Hanna, Thomas Hanna, Lawrence Gold, Moshe Feldenkrais, and important others. It seamlessly blends meditation with slow, mindful movements that raise bodily awareness in order to erase tension-based patterns and habits of holding stress in the body.
All of the Somatic Movement Flows contained in both of James’ DVD Sets, along with the methodology, philosophy, and history of Gentle Somatic Yoga can be found in his Encyclopedia of Gentle Somatic Yoga.
